Details about the class: 

This class will take you through the fundamentals of acroyoga, including ‘flying’, ‘basing’ and ‘spotting’. No experience is necessary.

One aim of the class is to get people moving in unusual and interesting ways, providing both a mental and physical challenge.

Acroyoga combines acrobatics with elements of yoga. It is a sociable and fun way of building strength, flexibility and confidence.

One of the main aims of Acroyoga is to bring people together, forming real human connections and helping the individual to cultivate trust, self-awareness and open communication.

In this class, we move through a series of postures and flows which progress as we go. You will learn how to safely base, fly and spot for simple acroyoga moves such as front bird, back bird, sitting, throne, and stag.

 

About the instructor: 

Karen began her yoga journey in 2002. At first, yoga was a way to balance her stress at work. She was so addicted to yoga and it became a daily practice in her life. Her yoga career really began in 2014 when she completed her teacher training in Kenya with the Africa Yoga Project. The learning experience coupled with a sense of community left a very deep mark in her and thus the passion for yoga was instilled. She felt the need to give and be a part of the community. Teaching yoga became a natural progression and a passion to excel led her to explore other facets of the practice. Apart from Baptiste yoga, she is an Aerial Yoga instructor and teaches Aerial Hoop. In her free time, you will find her climbing on rocks. To make sure she is aware of the training and health aspects of her skills, she is also certified as a PT and Zumba instructor. Very recently she completed her Acroyoga teacher training in Berlin and is currently busy managing workshops and sharing her passion around the world.

You are recommended to bring your own equipment such as yoga mat and yoga brick, towel and spare clothes. A limited number of yoga mats will be provided but there may not be enough to supply to all participants. Please keep warm and wear comfortable sportswear to enjoy the workshop.
