A new month means a new line-up of things to do across Hong Kong. October brings comedy, music, movie nights, parties and plenty of Halloween plans, with events lined up throughout the month.
Whatever you’re in the mood for, here are some of the October events worth knowing about.
Chaotic Pavilion Presents: LICENCE TO BEACH – Saturday 17 October
Chaotic Pavilion escapes the city for LICENCE TO BEACH, a full-day affair on a hidden Hong Kong beach. Local and regional DJs, an electronic live performance, cocktails, sea and sunset sounds.
No Curfew Club Vol. 4: Riot Act Edition – Saturday 17 October
No Curfew Club turns up the guitars for its latest Y2K throwback at AER. Expect a soundtrack spanning alt-rock, pop-punk, nu-metal and peak emo, with everything from Blink-182 and Avril Lavigne to Linkin Park, Paramore and Green Day.
Dinner & A Movie: Halloween Screenings – Sunday 18 & 25 October
AER gets into the Halloween spirit with two cult horror screenings this October. The Blair Witch Project kicks things off on Sunday 18 October, followed by the original Japanese version of The Ring on Sunday 25 October. Both evenings pair the scares with free-flow drinks and a buffet of AER comfort-food favourites, making for two suitably spooky Sundays in the countdown to Halloween.
San Miguel x The Pontiac: An Oktoberfest Takeover – Sunday 18 October
Oktoberfest takes over The Pontiac for a lively Sunday afternoon fuelled by San Miguel. Expect custom pours, interactive bingo and a playful take on the traditional Bavarian celebration.
Friday Night Funnies: Halloween Edition – Friday 30 October
TakeOut Comedy gets Halloween weekend started with a special edition of Friday Night Funnies. Head to Elgin Street for a night of live stand-up and plenty of laughs before the Halloween celebrations get into full swing.
SuNKeN Halloween Special ft. Alex Kennon – Saturday 31 October
SuNKeN takes over AIA Vitality Park this Halloween, transforming the harbourfront into the dark, dystopian world of Cyberpunk Decay. Internationally acclaimed DJ and producer Alex Kennon leads the line-up, joined by local and regional DJs throughout the night.
Got Balls? Netflix & Kill – Saturday 31 October
Got Balls? gets a Halloween makeover with Netflix & Kill. Expect a spooky spin on the social game night as the crew brings its signature mix of games, competition and chaos to Halloween Saturday.
No Curfew Club: East Coast vs West Coast V.4 – Saturday 31 October
No Curfew Club returns to AER for a Halloween edition celebrating East Coast and West Coast hip-hop. Expect ’90s and 2000s rap, R&B and pop, alongside themed gelato, midnight snacks and plenty of Y2K nostalgia.
AIA Vitality Hub – Throughout October
AIA Vitality Hub continues throughout October with another varied programme of fitness, wellness and community activities. With plenty of opportunities to move, unwind and try something new, there’s something to drop into throughout the month.
